Register of the 1763 Uniate Church Metropolitan Archive / Ed. and introd. art. by Oleksiy Vinnychenko. Lviv: UCU Publishing House, 2017. 736 p. (Series “Kyivan Christianity”, Vol. 3).
The edition contains the oldest extant Uniate Church archive description, compiled by Augustin (Voina) O.S.B.M. in early 1760’s. A copy of the 1768 metropolitan archive – preserved nowadays in the Vasyl Stephanyk Lviv National Scholarly Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine – is the core of this critical academic edition. The corpus describes the content of 190 fascicula (fagots) with assorted documentation (representing the contents of over 5 thousand acts) from this archive. The documentation discloses a wide range of pastoral, administrative, economic, and political activity of the Ukraine-Belorus’ hierarchy, the functioning of regional episcopal structures, the boundaries of parishes and monasteries, the economic potential of church beneficiaries, inter-confessional relations, etc. The publication of the 1763 metropolitan archive can open future possibilities for reconstructing the original Uniate Church documentary collection and thus become the basis for recreating and complex processing of the whole manuscript legacy of the old Kyivan Metropolitanate.
